Welcome

Welcome to the Curriculum and Instruction website.  Please take some time to review the information pertaining to the many programs available to students in the Princeton Regional School District.  The navigation bar to the left links to many informative pages about our curriculum.

Resources for parents and teachers

As we move towards electronic systems for curriculum and other processes, we are in the process of creating a clearinghouse of useful links and information for parents and teachers.  Please click on the links below (or those listed to the left on the navigation page) to access these resources.

Curriculum and Instruction

The content area links provided include a variety of information about opportunities for students, announcements about awards and other good news and general curriculum resources.  New Jersey's Core Curriculum Content Standards (NJ CCCS) have been updated recently. The link to the left includes a variety of resources including the standards for all content areas.   During all curriculum revisions, we align the Princeton Regional Schools' curriculum to the NJ CCCS.  To access the NJ CCCS, please click on the link below:

Our supervisors and teachers continually review and redesign our curriculum to meet current standards and learning needs of our students.  As we move forward with our curriculum work, we are placing all curriculum into an electronic format through Rubicon Atlas.  At this time, we are ready to post our elementary curriculum on the online portal for parents and visitors to view.  You can find the elementary curriculum at the link below.

Tri-State Consortium -- Writing Evaluation

During February, 2011, colleagues from Connecticut, New Jersey and New York visited our district to evaluate our PK-12 writing program.  Many teachers and administrators prepared samples of our program aligned to the eight indicators of the Tri-State Consortium -- performance-based assessment; student metacognition in the learning process; student performance data; curriculum and instruction; professional learning, supervision and evaluation; equitable support for student needs; shared vision and environment for change; and parent and community support.  We also provided four focus questions for our visit team to consider:

1.  To what extent is there evidence of consistent implementation of the K-12 Language Arts curriculum in writing?
2.  To what extent is there evidence that instruction in writing is informed by data analysis and formative assessment?
3.  To what extent is there evidence of research-based instructional strategies and practices (e.g. writing process, rubrics, conference logs, self-reflection) in writing in the instructional program?
4.  To what extent is there evidence of the monitoring of student achievement/progress in writing on a K-12 continuum?

Our purpose in asking for feedback from our Tri-State Consortium colleagues is to self-assess our program, gain insight from the perspective of educators in other districts like ours, and use these reflections towards continual improvement of our instructional program.  The report can be accessed by clicking on the link below:
