"The value of an education ... is not the learning of many facts but the training of the mind to think something that cannot be learned from textbooks."

K-5 Mathematics Curriculum

The K-5 mathematics curriculum emphasizes the importance of critical thinking and problem solving through a variety of activities aligned with the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards.

Students develop a conceptual understanding of key mathematical concepts which lay the foundation for algebraic thinking.  Each concept begins with a concrete learning experience which develops into a symbolic representation through the use of manipulatives and technology.

In April, 2007, Princeton adopted Everyday Mathematics to aid in delivering its elementary curriculum.  Everyday Mathematics focuses of the four math standards, Number & Numerical Operations, Measurement & Geometry, Patterns & Algebra, and Data Analysis & Probability.
