"The value of an education ... is not the learning of many facts but the training of the mind to think something that cannot be learned from textbooks."

Mathematics Summer Assignments

Contained in this packet are review problems the Princeton Regional School's Math Department selected for you to complete as a reinforcement of secure skills necessary for success in your next mathematics course.

This is an opportunity for you to go back through many of the concepts taught in your previous courses and strengthen your skills. Please take this packet seriously using your prior notes and assessments to ensure your understanding of the material. Please show work for each problem, where appropriate. We will check your work during the first week of classes, and a few example problems will be discussed in class. A review test will be given on this material at the end of the first full week of school, so please take this assignment seriously.

The use of a graphing calculator is a vital part in your mathematical success. They will be used extensively in this class and you are strongly encouraged to purchase one for September. Keystrokes and programs will be based on the menu system of the TI-Nspire, so if you do not already own a graphing calculator (TI-84 family), we recommend that you purchase the Nspire. The use of graphing calculators will be limited during some quizzes and tests. The use of calculators with "QWERTYUIOP" keyboards or extended memory (e.g., TI-89 or TI-92) is prohibited during all exams.

We look forward to seeing you in September. Have a great summer!
