COMMUNITY  PARK STUDENT WINS FIRST PLACE IN NATIONAL COMPETITION


At their annual national meeting in San Francisco, the American Chemical Society (ACS) announced that Maximilian James,  a Community Park student, received first place in the national competition for "Chemists Celebrate Earth Day: 'Dig It!' Illustrated Haiku Contest," Grades 3-4 Category. Maximilian was a student in Linda Gougoutas' class who encouraged her students to participate in the contest. Each spring the ACS conducts a nationwide celebration of Earth Day. The program called Chemists Celebrate Earth Day is designed to enhance the public's awareness of important contributions made through chemistry in preserving the planet and improving the environment.
