WHAT TO DO IF . . .
YOU HAVE A SCHOOL-RELATED PROBLEM:
Elementary Schools: Please call your child’s teacher. If more information is needed, contact your building principal and Guidance counselor.
Middle School/High School: Please call your child’s teacher, counselor, supervisor(s), teacher on special assignment, assistant principal, or principal.
YOU SUSPECT THAT YOUR CHILD HAS BEEN BULLIED, HARASSED OR INTIMIDATED:
Please report the incident to your child's principal or his/her designee.
The Board of Education prohibits acts of harassment, intimidation, or bullying against pupils. A safe and civil environment in school is necessary for pupils to learn and achieve high academic standards. Harassment, intimidation, or bullying, like other disruptive or violent behaviors, is conduct that disrupts both a pupil’s ability to learn and a school’s ability to educate its pupils in a safe environment; and since pupils learn by example, school administrators, faculty, staff and volunteers should be commended for demonstrating appropriate behavior, treating others with civility and respect, and refusing to tolerate harassment, intimidation, or bullying.
YOU WANT TO MEET WITH A TEACHER:
Please call your child’s teacher via the school secretary to arrange a conference.
YOU WANT HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS FOR YOUR CHILD WHO IS ABSENT DUE TO ILLNESS:
Elementary Schools: You may get this information by leaving a message for the teacher with the school secretary prior to 12 noon.
Middle School/High School: If the student will be absent for more than three days, you may get this information by leaving a message with the guidance counselor. (John Witherspoon Middle School, 806-4272; Princeton High School, 806-4282)
YOUR CHILD IS TRANSFERRING TO A NEW SCHOOL:
Parents who are planning to transfer their children to another school should visit the home school’s office and in the high school, the guidance/attendance office. A transfer card and a pertinent health record will be provided to the parent or guardian. Academic information will be forwarded to the receiving school upon request. Elementary schools need two weeks’ notice to mail documents to a new school.
YOU WANT A MESSAGE DELIVERED:
Only emergency messages may be delivered to students. In case of an emergency, please leave a message with the school’s secretary, and it will be communicated to the student.
YOUR CHILD IS TO LEAVE WITH ANOTHER ADULT:
Please send a written note giving school personnel permission for your child to leave with that adult. The adult must report to the school’s main office.
YOUR CHILD NEEDS TO TAKE MEDICINE DURING SCHOOL HOURS:
Written permission, according to Board policy, is required from parent/guardian AND family physician. The medication must be in its original container.
YOUR CHILD LEAVES A LUNCH AT HOME:
Please deliver it to the school office. Students will be called to the office to claim the lunch.
YOUR CHILD LOSES SOMETHING ON A SCHOOL BUS:
Please call the Transportation Office (806-4209), and report the loss. The article will be traced from this point, and you will be notified if it is found.
YOU CHANGE YOUR ADDRESS OR TELEPHONE NUMBER:
Please advise your school office and high school attendance office immediately.
YOU REQUIRE EARLY DISMISSAL OF YOUR CHILD:
Please send a written note requesting that your child be excused early. Please pick up your child at the school office.
YOUR CHILD IS LATE FOR SCHOOL:
A pupil arriving after the scheduled beginning time for any school session is required to report to the main office with his or her parent. This will ensure that accurate attendance records are maintained.
