Princeton Regional School's Preschool Program

The district has preschool programs that are designed to meet the State's preschool program guidelines.  We have integrated preschool classrooms and specialized preschool classrooms for students with disabilities.
  • The first half-day integrated preschool classroom opened in 2004-05, at Johnson Park School, to serve four-year olds.  In 2005-06 the second classroom was opened at Riverside School.  Then, in 2008-09, we made important changes to our integrated preschool program in response to the State’s new preschool expansion initiative by expanding both of our integrated preschool classrooms from half-day to full-day.
  • Specialized preschool classrooms for three- and four-year old students with disabilities first opened in 2003-04 at Littlebrook School (and in 2008-09 this classroom moved to Johnson Park School).  A preschool class specifically designed to meet the needs of the young autistic child opened in 2005 at Riverside School.
 IN 2011-12 . . .
The integrated preschool classes will continue to be housed at two of the district’s four elementary schools – Johnson Park School and Riverside School.  To be eligible for preschool, a child must reach four years of age on or before October 1, 2011.  The full-day integrated preschool program has limited spaces available.  Per state guidelines for the State's Preschool Expansion Program, students who are eligible for the free and reduced meals program and students with disabilities are eligible to enroll in the district's preschool program at no cost.  Other students are required to pay tuition, if spaces are available.
The district’s preschool program incorporates special education services required to support the integrated preschool classes.  A speech and language therapist works exclusively with all preschool classes (both special education and general education classes) and is part of a team that conducts preschool evaluations for the Princeton community.  For more information about preschool services for four-year old children who live in Princeton, please contact the Curriculum & Instruction Office at 609/806-4203 ext. 4.
