A Brief Look at Princeton Regional Schools
The Princeton Regional School District is comprised of four elementary schools, one middle school, and one regional high school, all of which serve a culturally diverse student population of approximately 3,100. The staff is comprised of approximately 425 professional and support personnel, more than 60 percent of whom hold advanced degrees.
ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS
Princeton has four K-5 elementary schools located throughout Princeton Township and Princeton Borough (Community Park, Johnson Park, Littlebrook, and Riverside). All range between 250 and 400 in population and follow the same curriculum. Each has a full-time building Principal. Each school has a Child Study Team, a Nurse, and an Educational Media Specialist/Librarian. Two of the elementary schools offer two half-day sessions of pre-kindergarten for 4 year-olds who reside in Princeton Borough or Princeton Township.
The central instructional focus is language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science. Writing skills are an essential part of the program.
Students also receive instruction in vocal and instrumental music, art, health and physical education, Spanish, and media and technology education. Computers are used as tools for learning and to communicate worldwide through the Internet.
The Middle School houses Grades 6-8 and is located adjacent to Princeton High School. The student population is approximately 750.
The school is staffed with a full-time Principal and Assistant Principal, supervisory staff in the basic disciplines, a Child Study Team, Guidance Counselors, a Nurse, and an Educational Media Specialist/Librarian. The Middle School uses the "house" concept for the organization of instruction.
A broad range of subjects is offered: basic academics, two foreign languages, vocal and instrumental music, art, computers, health and physical education, modern living, and drama. There are also after-school athletic and non-athletic student activities.
Princeton High School, with a student population of approximately 1,200, offers a four-year program in all college preparatory subjects, plus a wide range of electives. Advanced placement courses are also offered in the core subject areas.
Students perform well on standardized tests, and 85 percent of graduates continue their education beyond high school.
At the High School, there is a Principal and two Assistant Principals, a staff of supervisors, a Director of Athletics, a Director of Guidance and Guidance Counselors, a Child Study Team, a Substance Awareness Counselor, a Nurse, and an Educational Media Specialist/Librarian.
In addition to a rich academic program, the High School offers a variety of co-curricular programs, including athletics, clubs, publications, and productions.
In addition, to the six school buildings, there is a central office building which houses the office of the Superintendent, the Board of Education, and the Offices of Curriculum and Instruction, Business, Human Resources, Student Services, Transportation, and Maintenance and Facilities.
Enrollment continues to grow by 100 or more students annually.
An independent food service company offers the National School Lunch Program to students every day that school is in session.
